Specialized Fitness Training Services

Physical Structure helps adults 45+ to feel great, look amazing and to optimize both physical and cognitive performance. Through a variety of customized, curated fitness training specializations, we help clients revitalize, re-energize and rejuvenate their body, mind and spirit.

1. Posture & Spine Strength, Endurance & Mobility

Neck and posture strength are vitally important as we age. Inactivity and chronic bad posture from sitting at a computer or viewing a mobile device often results in spinal dysfunction and neck pain (“Tech Neck”). Spine muscle strength, endurance and mobility training in all directions the spine is meant to move can eliminate neck discomfort and overuse injury. Additionally, a strong, muscular-looking neck and great posture takes years off your appearance (and you’ll actually be taller!)

2. Skeletal Muscle Building:

Gaining healthy skeletal muscle mass, and preventing age-related muscle loss (Sarcopenia), is a vital component to healthy aging. Strong, healthy muscle gives our body structure, contributes to metabolic health, reduces the risk of devastating falls, and even lessens the potential for long-term cognitive decline. In addition to the health benefits, increasing muscle and losing excess bodyfat can transform how we look and take years off our appearance.

3. Cardiorespiratory Training:

One of the most important overall indicators of health is cardiorespiratory fitness. High aerobic capacity (also known as vO2 Max) is associated with lower risks of developing nearly all preventable disease states. Cardiorespiratory training helps to dissipate excess caloric consumption, which aids in maintaining an ideal body composition.

4. Balance, Agility & Multiplane Functional Movement:

Balance and agility training greatly mitigates the risk of falls and allows clients to live a more dynamically active life. Additionally, our daily life requires that we move and lift things in multiple plans of movement. Multiplane functional movement training includes often ignored muscle groups in the hands, lower leg and feet, and enables clients to execute movement patterns for activities from gardening, to lifting heavy carry-on suitcases to playing with grandchildren.

5. Post-Physical Therapy Fitness Training :

After most major musculoskeletal or cardiorespiratory surgeries, patients undergo physical therapy. Once the patient has completed therapy and has been medically cleared to exercise, Physical Structure receives guidance from the physical therapist on how to best initiate an exercise program while reinforcing the therapist's post-therapy direction and minimizing the potential for reinjury. Additionally, Physical Structure works with a network of medical providers who prescribe exercise programs for patients with non-acute illness or injury to ensure they exercise safely under expert supervision.

6. Athletic Performance Training

Get Better. Stronger. Faster. Physical Structure helps competitive age group athletes in sports like triathlon, pickleball, golf, tennis and Brazilian Jujitsu to enhance performance through specialized sport-specific training programs. While the primary goal is to improve competitive performance, programs also include work in areas where the athlete may not have high functional proficiency, which can sometimes lead to injury. Additionally, as formerly de-conditioned clients make training progress, their new goals sometimes include competing in a first-ever event like a marathon. Physical Structure coaches these new athletes through their first and future competitions.
